In early 2022, I joined a newly founded nature photography group in Nürnberg. We meet monthly and occasionally embark on photo excursions together. Over time, the desire came up to showcase our photos to spread the fascination for nature.
After 1½ years of work, the big day had come: The opening of our photo exhibition. About 50 people came to the vernissage to see the pictures, listen to the speeches, eat pretzels and drink sparkling wine.
Our chosen theme “Sand Habitats Around Nürnberg” showcases the surprising diversity of these unique ecosystems. Over 30 photos and collages highlight the beauty and ecological value of these habitats. You can learn more about these special habitats here.
The exhibition takes place between 29.8 and 2.10.2024 at the medieval Handwerkerhof in the centre of Nürnberg. There will be a second exhibition with the same pictures from 25.2 to 24.4.2025 at the Kulturladen Zeltnerschloss, Nürnberg.
While preparing such an exhibition was much more work than I had imagined, in the end it was a nice experience to show seven of my photos to the public. I got nice feedback and enjoyed engaging conversations with attendees. Thanks to all the people who came, especially my friends and family! Last but not least, a big thank you to the LBV (a Bavarian nature conservation organization) for raising money for the exhibition and supporting our nature photography group in many ways.
